Gopher State Baseball League opens 2014 season

The 15th Annual Gopher State Baseball League (GSBL) is finally underway after Minnesota’s long winter. We are now ready to enjoy some nice weather and outdoor baseball! The MYAS Baseball Staff would like to take this opportunity to thank all 9-15u as well as the 16u and 17-19u teams for being a part of the Gopher State Baseball Family. We are very proud of the reputation GSBL has earned over the past fifteen years and we remain focused on the continued growth of our program. As we embark on this crystal anniversary, it allows us time to reflect on how far the MYAS/Gopher State Baseball program has come and look forward to the future of this league that we have so much pride for. We know that each participant will be satisfied with the product and take pride in being a part of the GSBL, which is a culmination of MYAS’s “Best Practices” based on our motto of “Youth Sports Done Right!”

We are proud to say, that the GSBL is held in high regard throughout the state of Minnesota and western Wisconsin youth baseball community. With the league’s continuous expansion throughout the communities North and West of the Twin Cities and our dedicated member associations forming additional teams throughout the three levels of play, the 9u-19u leagues has more teams than ever before. The GSBL is the largest representation of communities that make up a traveling baseball league in the Upper Midwest.

All pertinent information regarding the 15th Annual Gopher State Baseball League is available at the Gopher State Baseball League web page. All GSBL Schedules, Standings and Field Maps are now available at www.myas.org . All important league start and end dates along with playoff schedules and 2014 rules are now available on the GSBL web page. Do not miss out on an opportunity to catch “the best game in town” at a field near you this summer!

Gopher State Tournament of Champions

Believe it or not, baseball season is upon us! The official kickoff of the Gopher State Tournament of Champions (GSTC) qualifying season was held the first weekend of May with the Gopher State Spring Invitationals (13AAA and 13AA) in Ramsey, MN. We are boasting 318 qualifying tournaments for the GSTC this year for AAA, AA and A traveling baseball teams all throughout Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.

All qualifying information can be found on the GSTC portion of www.myas.org, including a full listing of qualifying events, rules for classification, explanation of how teams qualify, etc. Any additional questions regarding the GSTC can be directed to Tony Groff at tony@myas.org.

If your team is still looking for an extra tournament weekend to try to qualify for the GSTC, make sure to get in contact with one of the many local tournaments listed on our Tournament Listings page at www.myasbaseball.sportngin.com. Click on the “Details” button on the left side of the tournament listing you are interested in to get in touch with the local Tournament Director. These events fill up quickly but many do still have openings between now and the last weekend in June.

The MYAS baseball staff hosted over 500 teams in the 2013 GSTC and we are looking forward to another spectacular baseball season this summer. Best of luck to all teams in the GSTC qualifying season!
